In 1983, Mary started making baskets as a hobby in Lincoln, Montana. Mary was looking at a pile of antlers Byron had
collected over the years and told him she thought she could make a basket from one of them.
By 1991 Byron was designing and Mary weaving antler baskets in using a variety of antlers from mule
deer, whitetail deer and elk. This business has been a blessing to them, in that it gives them an opportunity
to work together in creating these unique baskets. They have recently started using moose antlers.
As you can see on the antler country photo page,
Byron has spent alot of time in the mountains of Montana and Idaho searching for naturally shed antlers from these big-game animals.
All of these big-game animals shed their antlers and grow a new set of antlers every year. This gives
Byron, and occasionally Mary, the opportunity to hike and see some of the most beautiful and rugged country in the lower 48 states.
Both Byron and Mary love the outdoors. Mary grew up on a ranch in Central Oregon and Byron has spent
most of his life working in the forests of Oregon, Montana, and Idaho. They have an appreciation for
the beauty God has created here on this earth and strive to capture some of this natural beauty in their antler basket creations.
Mary and Byron would like to know what you think of their baskets. Your comments would be appreciated.
